Marineland Eclipse Acrylic Aquarium System

The top-mounted, three-stage system combines simple, elegant styling with superior performance efficiency. All water is filtered through the high-performance Eclipse Rite-Size Filter Cartridge and then directed to the patented Marineland BIO-Wheel. The result: 100% water-to-media contact for excellent water quality, and a healthier environment for plants and fish. Easy to install, easy to operate, the Eclipse System provides unlimited, unhindered access to the entire aquarium. The specially selected fluorescent daylight bulb is ideal for plant growth and ornamental fish color enhancement. 5 Stars Great tank
This tank is quiet, has a great shape, keeps my water crystal clear and seems much bigger than 12 gallons. I highly recommend it.

1 Star looks nice but broke within a year.
I had this aquarium for just under a year when the electrical light casing broke (the tan part). It had turned a dark brown (burnt) color and cracked in two, which exposes it to the water and condensation. I noticed it one day when the light would not turn on. Basically it became a fire hazard. I contacted the company and they did not care about the light casing spitting open. I offered to send them pictures. Not to mention the filter amount decreased over the year to nearly nothing. Yes I routinely cleaned it, and changed the filter. I no longer had the receipt so they would not replace it. oh well–I should have kept the receipt. My biggest problem is they did not care about the fire hazard.

Good points- It has a nice seamless look. The water was always clear.

Other cons-The opening to feed the fish is small. I question how well the filter works but I never had a problem with the water except for occasional algae build up. I never over fed the fish and I only kept a few fish given the small size.

5 Stars Great beginner setup
This is a perfect package for the person who has no fish related products.

This package come with almost every thing that you need, just add a couple fish, rocks and a plant or two.

Comes in a few pieces but, following the simple “picture” directions make it pretty easy to put the filter together and all the pieces that make up the top of the tank.

Replacement filters are only a couple dollars and even come in multipacks for a bigger discount.

Pros:

Comes with most every thing you need to start an aquarium.

Comes with florescent light

Its not glass and has no seams that could leak.

Cons:

Doesn’t come with and rocks or plants

Overall this is a great starter tank for someone who only wants a couple fish or only has a small space for a fish tank.

4 Stars Would (and did) purchase again.
Nice little tank. It’s my second. It is so small that it’s difficult to find a small enough heater. So last time i tried to heat it with a small lamp placed next to it. That melted the plastic a bit, causing a leak. This time I found a small heater & couldn’t be happier with it.

5 Stars We love this tank!
I ordered this tank for my daughter for her birthday. The tank was a little larger than the previous ones we had been looking at. We upgraded her from a little 2 1/2 gallon minibow to this 12 gallon eclipse system. I chose the eclipse system particularly because I had one myself in the past (a 29 gallon high) and I loved the system. The tank came packed well and was VERY easy to set up. Within 15 minutes from pulling it out of the box, we were adding water. Currently we have a total of 5 fish in the tank and 1 apple snail. Everyone is doing fantastic! Even one of the fish had babies. The filter cartridge didn’t seem to fit in exactly right but I believe it is now installed correctly. The tank is so beautiful! My daughter watches the tank to fall asleep at night. The light is nice and bright as well and we have gotten a ton of compliments on it. Great tank… and the price was reasonable, too!

5 Stars Have had mine over 2 years and highly recommend it.
I have been thinking of getting a veil-tail Betta fish and wouldn’t think of keeping one in a little jar or bowl,so I came here looking for a 1-2 gallon aquarium, and realized I never left a review for my acrylic Marineland Eclipse System 12,12 gallon aquarium.

I have to say that I am totally satisfied with mine. My only complaint is that I didn’t start with a 29-30 gallon, instead, but they cost considerably more than glass tanks, but you never have to worry about leaks,as they are seamless and they weigh a lot less.

I keep my home at 78 degrees,so I had to take the heater out as I could never get it cool enough. I clean it every 10-14 days, and the water stays crystal clear with a wall of bubbles, air stone,(not a wand which clogs). All the pet shops carry the system 12 filters.I get the 3-pk for $9.98 which you change once a month, rinsing the filter out when cleaning the tank,in between the monthly filter change. Just remember, do not rinse off the bio-wheel,as you want the beneficial bacteria which lives in it.

I highly recommend acrylic aquariums, and happily vouch for the Marineland Eclipse system. Excellent quality.

3 Stars A little disappointed
So far the tank is beautiful all set up and we have not had any problems but it did not arrive in great condition.

The plastic lid was cracked and instead of messing with the huge hassle of returning/exchanging the very large item, my handy hubby was able to glue the shard back on that had snapped off in transit. Now the lid itself seems to be warped and does not sit flush on the tank. If we were ever to have any very sneaky, jumpy fish, they might be able to escape as there is a gap in the back corner of the tank.

Other than that, it is beautiful and we like the seemlessness of the acrylic over the glass tank. Can get other complete tank sets for A LOT less but we like the look of this one and all the filters etc being in the lid and not taking up space in the back of the tank. Wish it came with a heater and thermometer and net for the price you pay…

All we needed to add was some gravel and ornaments, everything else needed for cold water fish is in the tank. Product quality appears to be excellent, the filter pump runs very quiet and it’s keeping the water very clear. It’s large enough to house 3 or 4 small fish comfortably and ours is currently housing 3 female betta quite nicely. If a small tank is what you are looking for, this is a very nice product.

5 Stars Incredible Tank
I received the six gallon tank as a gift because I was looking to add a pet to my bedroom. The setup is generally easy and only takes maybe five minutes. I purchased three small fish the next day and had some great results. Over time I added a few more and now the aquarium is just thriving! It’s great because the tank is so small and can fit almost anywhere. You just need to be careful not to overcrowd the fish. Your list of fish possibilities are small, but they’ll look amazing under the flourescent lighting. The only inconvenience of the set is the top opening. When the lid is open, the filter is right there, and the hole that leads into the water is suprisingly small. Plus, I can’t clean the tank without having to take the entire top off and drip water all over the floor. But, there are definitely more advantages to it. Just remember to clean the tank once a month, check the maintenance of the filter, and not overcrowd the tank (add about one inch of fish per every gallon), and you’ll have some happy fish for years.
